What's Physically Happening

[Normal] Eavestroughs are held to the fascia board by hangers spaced at intervals along the run. Those hangers are rated for the weight of an empty (or lightly wet) trough — not a trough packed with waterlogged, compacted debris, which can weigh significantly more per linear foot than most homeowners assume. When that weight exceeds what the hangers were designed for, they bend, loosen, or pull out entirely, and the trough begins to sag or separate from the fascia.
